Leicester City v Liverpool Premier League Betting Preview and Tips 13/02/2021

Football fixtures have ramped up in recent weeks, with both Premier League and FA Cup matches taking place in the last seven days. There’s another big weekend of top-flight action ahead this weekend as all 20 teams return to action. One of the standout fixtures sees Leicester host Liverpool at the King Power Stadium in the 12:30 kick off on Saturday. Leicester have surprised many this season and the Foxes’ currently occupy third in the Premier League, just seven points off leaders Manchester City. Liverpool, however, continued to stutter at the halfway stage of the 2020/21 season and they lie in fourth place.

Team news/form

Leicester have shown consistency all season and have only lost once in their last 10 Premier League games. Brendan Rodgers’ side followed up a disappointing 3-1 loss to Leeds two weeks ago with two solid performances, beating Fulham 2-0 and holding out for a 0-0 draw away to Wolves. The Foxes’ have also won three of their last six top-flight games at home and lost just once in this time. Wes Morgan, Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana and Dennis Praet will be out for Leicester this weekend. Liverpool have struggled to put together a good run of results recently and were comfortably beaten 4-1 by table-toppers Man City last weekend. The Reds have now won just twice in their last nine Premier League matches but have won three of their last five away from home. A recent thorn for Liverpool has been their injury crisis, particularly in defence, as they remain without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.

Match Winner Odds

Despite their poor recent form, Liverpool are being tipped as narrow favourites to win outright against Leicester this weekend. Smarkets are currently offering the best odds for Jurgen Klopp’s side to take all three points at 23/20. However, if you are backing Leicester to see off the current Premier League champions, SBK will provide odds of 45/17 for a home win – not a bad punt for a team in decent form. Our tip this week though is for a draw between the two sides. Neither team will want to give up ground in the race for the top four and Boylesports are providing 13/5 for Leicester and Liverpool to share the points this weekend, representing good value for a stalemate at the King Power.

Goals and Scorelines

Both Leicester and Liverpool are among the top scorers in the Premier League, with 39 and 44 goals respectively this season, so an end-to-end match is expected this Saturday. If you are anticipating a low scoring game, then BetVictor are providing returns of 7/1 for a 1-1 draw. But for Liverpool to edge past Leicester 1-0 or 2-0, Bet365 are giving odds of 10/1 and 12/1 respectively. The odds for a Leicester win by a similar scoreline are longer, with Bet365 also offering 12/1 for a 2-1 Leicester win or 14/1 for a 1-0 home victory. But, with goals expected, and both teams vying for points, our tip this week is to go with Sporting Index’s return of 13/1 for a 2-2 draw between the two sides.

Goalscorers/Key Players

Two of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League will be on the field this weekend in Jaime Vardy (11 goals) and Mo Salah (16 goals). These two players will provide decent returns if you are backing them to score first, with Unibet providing odds of 19/5 for Salah to find the net first in the match or 23/5 for Vardy to score first. A better value first goalscorer bet will come from backing young Leicester forward, Harvey Barnes to strike first. Barnes has scored seven Premier League goals this season and Paddy Power will return odds of 9/1 as him as the first goalscorer. But, our tip of the week is to go with James Maddison as the first goalscorer. The English midfielder has scored six goals this season and is a threat from set-pieces and long-distance and Unibet are offering good value odds at 19/2 for a Maddison goal first.
