Manchester City v Brighton FA Cup Betting Preview

There is a great weekend of sporting activity with the majority of the nation talking about the Grand National horse race taking place Saturday at Aintree. Once that has finished though all eyes will be on the Manchester City v Brighton FA Cup Semi Final match taking place from Wembley on Saturday with a 17.30 kick off. Although some may not take the FA Cup as seriously as a few years back it is still a prestigious competition, that has rewarded both teams a match at Wembley. Not only that though, there will be plenty of betting interest, and general interest, as Manchester City have already won the League Cup, and are in contention to win the Premier League, Champions League, and of course the FA Cup, meaning the chance to win a historic ‘Quadruple’ is certainly on. In respect of betting on this match though as you would expect Manchester City are clear favourites with the bookies. At the time of writing this the best odds you can get on Manchester City to win (in normal time) are 1/7 with a host of bookmakers including Betfred and Bet365. The draw is currently best priced at 19/2 while the best odds on a Brighton win currently are a huge 45/1, both these are with Betfair.

Obviously unless you are willing to back a huge wager on Manchester City it is fair to say there is no betting value in betting on just a Manchester City win. So our first bet of interest is to look at the ‘match result and both teams to score’ betting market. We would be surprised if Man City didn’t win this, but it is an FA Cup Semi Final, at Wembley after all, so we fully expect Brighton to go hard and maybe slightly throw the league form book out the window, so we think they at least have a goal in them. With this in mind the Manchester City to Win and Both Teams To Score bet do look a decent bet, especially with the betting odds of 13/5 with Coral bookies. With that first bet in mind you might also be interested in the Correct Score betting market. Here the 3-1 to Manchester City looks like it could offer some betting value at 12/1 with BetVictor.

We did have a little look at the Anytime Goalscorer bets and the value just doesn’t seem to be there, especially as we don’t know the starting line-ups yet. Raheem Sterling is in fine form at the moment but the best odds of 21/20 with Unibet didn’t really appeal to us. The better odds of 4/1 with a host of bookmakers including Bet365 for Sterling to be the last goalscorer in the game stand out more to us, if he plays that is. You could also be cute here and lay the same bet off on Betfair if he does actually score a goal in the match.

Another bet that maybe of interest, if like us, you think that Brighton have a goal in them is the Half Time/Full Time betting market. The Draw H/T – Man City F/T bet might be another interesting bet on offer, with BetVictor offering the best betting odds of 17/5 currently.

One last bet that might be worth looking at is with Ladbrokes and in their ‘Request a Price’ betting markets. They are offering 4/1 for Sterling to score anytime, Manchester City to win and both teams to score.
